This was only in Feb. A few weeks later we were wondering if there was any chance it could have been covid, though it was in Gainesville FL where no cases are known to have hit that early. But her husband confirmed she tested positive for influenza A.

@jon-nyc said in Pay me now or pay me later.: Somewhat analogous to borrowing against your 401k. In the old days the mob and the union used to do that. It didn't work very well.

Someone posted this: “Chris Plante accurately pointed out this morning that CNN and MSNBC having people like John Brennan, James Comey, and James Clapper on as ‘experts’ on Obamagate is like if the networks in 1973-74 had Haldeman and Ehrlichman on to pontificate about Watergate.”

$25,000 for a watch? Come on. Nobody would spend $25,000 on a watch.

They weren't writing news. They were commenting on an article. And as I've already said, both were taking this license to reference the irony of yet another dumbassed leftist piece of "logic". I don't expect you to get it. You can't.

I frequently wonder how anybody has horrible as the Republicans ever get elected, and then I look at the Democrats and my question is answered.

I've been told we had a big crew go into our offices and labs and completely disinfect everything. They've also had consultants in, to advise on the airflow through offices due to the A/C. I'd suggested everybody having a HEPA filter in their office, but not sure whether that will happen - our layout is such that almost everybody has an office with a door, which is pretty unusual, but will also help with distancing. According to what I saw, when we return we're going to be wearing masks and gloves at all times. I don't really see how it's going to work, but that's just me.

I would think false positives (low specificity) would be a helluva lot more problematic than false negatives. If you are false positive, you may think you are safer than you are. article about in the times a few days ago. If you are a false positive when the prevalence of the true infected is low, you are looking at a whole lotta people thinking they are safe. When they ain’t.

@jon-nyc said in Office Space Real Estate After Pandemic?: It might depend also on how long all this lasts ('all this' = your average white collar office working remotely). The longer it goes on the more of it will stay permanent. I don't necessarily mean everyone permanently at home, but home several days per week or having the option to be home many days. I think I saw that Twitter Inc. announced they're staying virtual after this, for most employees at least. @jon-nyc said in Office Space Real Estate After Pandemic?: It might depend also on how long all this lasts ('all this' = your average white collar office working remotely). On the other hand Harari in Sapiens talks about myths and the the corporation is a myth. Hard to build a strong myth without lots of connection. As it is employees are barely loyal to companies anymore and often it is the corporation knowlingly or unknowingly doing that. 100% remote only ups the odds. Whether the isolation and job flipping is good for someone is a good debate.

I don’t think the funding to make masks is an issue. I enjoyed the sight and thought it was a nice patriotic display of honor for the frontline workers.

Absolutely, without a backstory I won't fall for how the article paints the picture. Well, other than I'll say, "oooooooooooh -- she said a bad word and mean words" so she should be fired, hung, publicly humiliated, etc. How offensive!! On the other hand, she might well deserve to be booted out of her position, literally and figuratively. Move on.
